【Peter Baumgartner】
Megan Rapinoe may not have Peter Baumgartnerseen the field during the U.S. women's World Cup semifinal win over England on Tuesday, but she still had a big impact off of it.
During the team's press availability on Wednesday, Rapinoe didn't hold back when asked about the stellar tea-sipping goal celebration from teammate Alex Morgan.

She said, “Wah, wah, wah. It’s like, we’re at the World Cup. What do you want us to do?" Love it.
Rapinoe's response definitely had a little bit of spice to it after some in the English press accused the U.S. squad of being "too arrogant" in the days leading up to the big match.

Is it really arrogance when you're the defending World Cup champs and you're 6-0 in the current World Cup, heading to the final, and you've outscored your opponents by a total of 24-3?

She's currently one of President Trump's Twitter targets because of her anthem protests and refusal to accept a possible invitation to the White House. Her girlfriend, WNBA superstar Sue Bird, even wrote a column about being targeted by Trump for The Players Tribune.
All of this makes her thoughtful answer about how she feels to be an American even more poignant.

We're in an era where political rants and tantrums happen over a pair of shoes. Meanwhile, Rapinoe isn't only putting her money where her mouth is, but doing so bravely and eloquently.
If there's anything to make you proud to be American this Fourth of July, it's Rapinoe and her teammates.
