Typhoon Hato, which made landfall on Wednesday across Southern China, has killed at least 12 people so far, battering buildings, overturning vehicles and causing thousands to flee.
Eight people were killed in Macau and four killed in Guangdong province in mainland China.
Hato has forced Hong Kong to trigger its most severe typhoon warning in five years, and Macau's highest in 18 years.
Videos swept in from across the region documenting the destruction the typhoon had brought:
In this video, crashing waves can be seen flooding a building complex in Hong Kong:
In another video, what looks to be a suspended working platform was seen swinging wildly in the wind and smashing into the windows of Hong Kong apartment units in the process.
Other parts of Hong Kong also experienced a continuous outpouring of floodwaters gushing in:

Across Hong Kong, offices and schools were forced to close as winds swept across the island. More than 450 flights were also cancelled.
But it was Macau that bore the brunt of the damage.
The city was hit with destructive winds of up to 124mph (200km/h). The city was on Wednesday hit with a power blackout for several hours. Mobile phone and internet networks were also disrupted.
As of Thursday, schools and public venues still remain closed in Macau.
According to one civil servant who spoke to Reuters, the city "looks like it was just in a war."
Hato has on Thursday been downgraded to a tropical storm, and is expected to weaken further as it moves inland over China.
