【Rebekka Armstrong Archives】
For many cryptocurrency investors and Rebekka Armstrong Archivesenthusiasts, CoinMarketCap is the first site they open each day. It tracks the prices and market capitalizations of more than 1,500 cryptocurrencies and is somewhat of a standard in the space.
Now, to celebrate its fifth birthday, CoinMarketCap is finally getting an iOS app. With the app debut, the service also gets a much-needed redesign and a couple of new features.
SEE ALSO: The cryptocurrency market has been a bloodbath in March, but recovery may not be far offThe most important among the new features is Watchlist, which gives you the ability to create your own list of cryptocurrencies whose performance you want to monitor.
The new iOS app, available now on Apple's App Store, is just what you'd expect: CoinMarketCap's list of cryptocurrency prices tucked into a nice, mobile-friendly format. This is important, as the site's standard web version doesn't look all that great on mobile. The app also supports the new Watchlist feature.

Finally, the site itself has gotten a fresh look, which includes a new logo, new fonts and a slightly altered color scheme.
"The mobile application and Watchlist have been the most requested updates,” said the site's founder, Brandon Chez. He claims the site has had more than 60 million unique visits so far this year.
CoinMarketCap is undoubtedly popular, but it has seen some controversy. In January this year, the site excluded some Korean cryptocurrency exchanges from its price calculations without prior announcement, thus instantly "wiping" a big portion of some of the most popular cryptocurrencies' market cap and causing a great deal of commotion on the market.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
The site also uses circulating supply of coins (as opposed to total supply) by default for its market capitalization calculations, which can be confusing in some cases. There are numerous alternatives to the site, which have a slightly different approach to this or that aspect of cryptocurrencies; the list includes sites like CryptoCompare, Coinkapp and Cryptocoincharts.info.
