Spoiler Alert: this article contains spoilers forThor: Ragnarok and potentially forAvengers: Infinity War.
SEE ALSO: This action figure may have The Doctor Has Big Boobs 2just revealed a detail about Captain America in 'Infinity War'A picture recently surfaced on Reddit claiming to show an image of Thor's new hammer from Avengers: Infinity war, his trusty blunt instrument Mjolnir having been shattered by his sister Hela during the events of Thor: Ragnarok.
The picture appears to show merchandise that is yet to be released, and the uploader doesn't specifically state how they came by it.
Fans picked up on a couple of details which may border on spoiler territory.
Firstly, the hammer seems to feature very tree-like features, notably the vines attaching the head to the shaft. This has led to speculation that Groot of Guardians of the Galaxyfame will have some hand in the forging process. We saw Thor encounter the Guardians in the Infinity Wartrailer, so it adds up pretty neatly.

Secondly, the name of the hammer is "Stormbreaker," which Marvel comics fans are familiar with as the weapon carried by Beta Ray Bill, an alien and staple of the Thor comic book canon.

Beta Ray Bill has yet to actually feature in the MCU, but he has appeared in Easter egg form -- in Thor: Ragnarok, as his face is carved into the Grandmaster's tower along with other "grand champions."

Originally he was even going to have a cameo in the film, but it was ultimately removed. Some are keen to see the horse-faced alien finally grace the stage of the MCU.

But while speculation abounds, but there is another strange detail from the image. Namely, the god of thunder still has both eyes, rather than sporting his rad new eyepatch. Could this just be a design fluke? Or does it give us reason to doubt this picture altogether?
Whatever this may or may not mean, let's not forget all the good times we had with Mjolnir in the face of this shiny new hammer. RIP old friend.
