Tesla has done it: 988 Archivescompany delivered a record-breaking 139,300 vehicles in the third quarter of 2020.
The total number of cars produced was 145,036, Tesla announced in a press release Friday. The company produced 128,044 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, and delivered 124,100 of them. As for the Model S and Model X, it produced 16,992 of the vehicles, and delivered 15,200 them.
Tesla said that its new vehicle inventory declined further in Q3, as the company made improvements to delivery efficiency.
The number is a big improvement from Q2, when Tesla delivered 90,650 cars. That quarter was particularly tough for Tesla, as the company was in partial lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company's previous record for most cars delivered in one quarter was Q4 2019, when Tesla delivered 112,000 cars.
SEE ALSO: Elon Musk says Tesla will probably be producing 20 million cars per year by 2030Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted at these results in September, as he encouraged employees to try their best and achieve a record quarter. The record-breaking quarter will surely help Elon's chances to unlock the next tranche of his massive, $55 billion compensation plan.
Tesla will announce its Q3 earnings later in October.
