We recently asked whether the Dyson Supersonic is Request Moviesstill worth its $430 price tag, but it looks like the brand is giving us more to consider.
On Aug. 3, Dyson announced a new attachment, the Flyaway Smoother, to be used with its famous blow dryer that was originally released in 2016. It'll be the first attachment from the Supersonic's line to come with a brush, and will retail for $59.99.
SEE ALSO: Dyson Airwrap vs. Shark FlexStyle: Here's which hot air tool is worth your moneyThe Flyaway Smoother is available for additional purchase if you want to add on to the five attachments already included with every dryer: the styling concentrator, wide tooth comb, gentle air attachment, diffuser, and the former most recent addition to the line, the flyaway attachment.

The new Flyaway Smoother improves on the flyaway attachment by offering more versatility. It uses the Coanda technology (the same tech that famously wraps the hair for you on the Airwrap's curling barrels) to lift longer hairs to the front of your hair, while simultaneously pushing in shorter flyaways, hiding them. The older flyaway attachment worked decently well when we tested the Dyson Supersonic, but it's hard to mimic the efficacy of a round brush.
That's where the improvements of the new version come in. Similar to the Airwrap's Coanda smoothing dryer, the new Flyway Smoother can be twisted to perform different functions. For the first part of styling, you'll leave the attachment on "smoothing mode" with the brush bristles, where the Coanda tech will be used to pull hair to the brush and then direct airflow down the section of hair for overall smoothing. Give the brush a twist, and you'll switch to the bristle-less "flyaway mode", which performs the same as the original flyway smoother.

A Dyson spokesperson told Mashable that the Flyaway Smoother would not be replacing the flyaway attachment, and will only be available for additional purchase. In our review of the Supersonic back in May, we already had a difficult time imagining how one person would find a use for all five included attachments, and the similarity between the flyaway attachment and the Flyaway Smoother brings that question up again. It seems to be aimed at those who really want a sleek style, but can't quite achieve that with the existing attachments.
While we can't say for sure how the attachment performs just yet, we can say that the very similarly-designed Shark HyperAIR's styling brush won our hearts, so we have high hopes. Plus, it's not as if Dyson is a stranger to making quality attachments.
